The solar system is a group of large and small planets orbiting a smallish star. The small planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars-the rocky ones, followed by the medium planets: Uranus and Neptune- the icy gas giants, and lastly, the large planets: Jupiter and Saturn-the HUGE gas giants, making 8 planets altogether. Our solar system lives in a spiral galaxy called the Milky Way.
